Comparing chemical fingerprints for ecotoxicology
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a comparison between 14 chemical fingerprints using 1D/2D features and PMCSFG, a data mining method that induces features based on maximum common subgraphs. We provide an experimental evaluation and discuss the usefulness of the different methods on ecotoxicology data. The features generated by data mining yield a similar performance for predicting toxicity, while they are more interpretable by chemists.

The heavy metal content of skeletons from an ancient metalliferous polluted area in southern Jordan with particular reference to bioaccumulation and human health.
This paper considers pollution/toxicological science in an archaeological context. Copper mining was an important activity in southern Jordan, especially during the Bronze Age, Nabatean, Roman, and Byzantine periods, and the environmental legacy of such intensive mining and smelting activities exists today in the form of massive, ancient spoil and smelting tips. The environment was heavily poll...
متن کاملThe Recoverability of Fingerprints on Paper Exposed to Elevated Temperatures – Part 2: Natural Fluorescence
Previous work by the authors [1] investigated the recoverability of fingerprints on paper which had been exposed to elevated temperatures by comparing various chemical enhancement techniques (ninhydrin, 1,8-diazafluoren-9-one (DFO), and physical developer (PD)). During that study, it became apparent, as a consequence of

Environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology have been losing support, resources, and recognition at universities for many years. What are the possible causes of this process? A first problem may be that the need for research and teaching in environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology is no longer seen because chemical pollution problems are considered as largely solved. Second, environmental chemis...
متن کاملThe Role of Ecotoxicology for Monitoring Ecosystem Health
The proposed EC Water Framework Directive (WFD) incorporates some new concepts in the field of water protection. Most of these concepts rely on the use of applied ecology of water ecosystems. The most important feature is that the classification of water quality is to be based on direct biological measurements of ecosystem health. It means that real biological communities should be sampled and ...

This study aims to determine the major elements of Portland cement type I and II (CEMI and CEMII) in a cement factory in north Tunisia and which metal elements are introduced into the production process. We determine also the metal input rate and their distribution at the entrance and exit of the process. The major elements were analyzed and the trace elements (Arsenic, barium, lead, mercur...
